Chamber Gift Vouchers
The Chamber Gift Vouchers are available in denominations of €50, €20 and €10 vouchers. These colourful vouchers were on sale in newsagents throughout the town and have been a great success. The Chamber believes that it is vital that people are encouraged to buy local vouchers to keep jobs and business in our community.
Under the Small Benefits Exemption Scheme, company directors and employees can receive a non-cash bonus of up to €500 in value on a completely tax free basis each year. As the payment must be in a non-cash form, the most common way to avail of this scheme is by purchasing gift vouchers. Shop Local Gift Vouchers can assist you save money by taking advantage of the Government Small Benefit Exemption Scheme. Employers can save 56% on staff rewards now by giving employees a Shop Local Gift Voucher instead of cash. This has been increased from €250 to €500 this Christmas!

ACORNS - An opportunity for early stage female entrepreneurs
After running a very successful pilot, we are now seeking applications for a second funded programme aimed at providing early stage female entrepreneurs living in rural Ireland with the knowledge, support and networking opportunities to advance the development of their businesses. Entitled ACORNS - Accelerating the Creation Of Rural Nascent Start-ups - the programme is focused on unleashing the potential of female entrepreneurs who have recently started a business or who have taken concrete steps towards doing so. I am reaching out to let you know, as you and your members are in a very good position to be able to identify those who could get real benefit from their participation.
Irish Water to take responsibility for administration of Monaghan business water accounts from end of July
15th July 2016 – Irish Water today (Friday, July 15th) held a briefing clinic for Monaghan County Councillors on the upcoming changes in the administration of business customer accounts in the county. The briefings were available to the councillors as part of the quarterly Irish Water Monaghan Councillor Clinics. The change will take place on a phased basis by Local Authority. This process begins in July with Meath, and Monaghan business accounts will be transferred to Irish Water from July 27.
Foodie Destinations 2016 - Applications now open!
The Restaurants Association of Ireland is on the search for Ireland’s top Foodie Destination for 2016. Formerly known as Foodie Towns, the initiative was formed as part of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2014 but proved to be so popular it became its own entity in 2015.
Our aim is to celebrate Ireland’s unique and wonderful food offerings and to encourage local food tourism initiatives across the country.
Applications are now being accepted. A minimum of three groups/businesses/organisations must apply together. Please read the eligibility criteria/guidelines below before applying.
- Applications will be accepted between the 14th of July and the 11th of August
- Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts and ten finalists will be announced
- Each of these ten finalists will receive a two hour visit from two of Ireland’s top food critics
- Online voting will commence and the public vote will count for 50% of the total score
- The overall winner will be announced in September
